Well we went to the Dr. on Wednesday and he thought that maybe it was appendicits and said he was very concerned he was getting dehydrated but would give it 24 hours since he gave us nausea meds and wanted to see if he could hold anything down. That night I had to go on a call for work and when I got home Dallin just did not look good, he kept saying that his belly hurt, still had a fever, and was hardly drinking. I decided to take him to insta care, which when we walked in the Dr. said he looked dehydrated and that insta care didn't do IV's so I would have to go the ER. I took Dallin right away, when we got there the Dr. said the same thing that he looked very dehydrated so they drew some blood and started an IV of fluids. Dallin didn't even flinch when they started the IV because he was so so sick, broke my heart to see him like that! After awhile the Dr. came in and talked to me about his labs and said that he was critically dehydrated and it's very good that we brought him in that night. His blood glucose was 49, his sodium was low, and his liver had started to shut down to compensate for his heart and brain (so that they would be the last organ to be affected by his dehydration). Okay I kind of freaked out when I saw his labs, I can't believe how fragile these little special kids of ours are, that within hours they can become so very very ill, I am so thankful I thought to take him to the ER because 99% of the time I go the complete other way and say "They will be fine, it's just a virus, we don't need to go to the Dr.!" The Dr. wanted us to leave his IV in because he was concerned that we would need another IV the next day.
Well the next day we did our very best to push the fluids and he did just ok, but the next day (yesterday) he started having a fever again of 102.4 and looking dehydrated and said that his head and throat were hurting. I called the Dr. and they said that the flu they are seeing lasts 7 to 9 days, so just to watch him. Once again I was feeling so helpless for my Goo! Well today I got a couple of calls from the Dr. office (I didn't have my phone) saying I needed to call them because they had results from Dallin's blood work. Never in my life have I been so panicked about something, of course I was thinking the worst, thinking they were going to tell me some horrible news that right away we were going to have to take him to Primary Children's Hospital (I see this way too often with my job), but after a very anxious phone call of trying to get a hold of the right nurse we find out that Dallin does indeed have strep. The rapid test they did at the Dr.'s office said negative so they sent it off and it came back that there was growth, so he has strep. Yay, finally an answer to why he has felt like crap, and I have to say I have never been so relieved to hear my child has strep because I was sure they were going to say he had leukemia or something! I'm seriously such a FREAK!!!!! I am so grateful that he is okay, that he will get better, and that I live in a day and age where there is technology to help him get better fast!! Oh how I love this little guy!

Here's my little Goo, so so sick!!

Here's his IV!

and this was today, feeling just a little better!

What a way to get out of a week of school huh?
