An exciting day at the ZOO!

The gang at the zoo!

Big Giant Elephant

Dallin's favorite is the penguins

Mya loved the giraffs

On the tigers

Mya and the albino alligator

Taylor was so excited to see the huge snake, yuck!!

Dallin measuring up to the giant gorilla

Me and Angi decided that it was a great day to take the kids to the zoo, besides the fact that it was free on Wednesday, it was going to be another sunny day, hooray. I don't know if we are crazy to have 2 adults with 6 kids, or that we are just adventerous. The kids had a blast. I would have to say that the albino alligator was probably my favorite, a little weird, but cool to see. I am so glad we were able to do something outdoors.

Spring Fever!!

Taylor loving his bike

Dalling loving his scooter

Mya just loving being outside

I am so thankful for the sunshine today!!! Even though it hasn't reached above 50 degrees yet, the fact that the sun was out shining today got us all having spring fever. The boys wanted to be outside so I thought what the heck, lets put some jackets on and out we will go. Taylor of course wanted to ride his bike and Dallin was happy just putting around the house on his scooter. Mya loved watching all the action and feeling the sun on her face. I had to laugh because it's the first time in months that I actually saw my grass, ok it's brown and dead, but hey it still was grass. Spring can't come fast enough for us.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

Jedi Master Dallin

Can you not help but smile when you see this little cutie in his Jedi robes. Dallin is always one that loves to dress up and pretend to be a superhero, so when his best friend Jaden had a Jedi party he was more than thrilled. Jaden's mom made all the kids these Jedi robes (wow she is ambitious, thanks Tanya) and then they brought their light sabers and fought the dark side. He had a great time and now we can't get him to take off the robe, even to go to sleep. My Dallin inspires me everyday to live life to the fullest and to enjoy the little things, he truly has my heart wrapped around his little finger.

A tribute to Rollo

Today I wanted to do a tribute to our greatest pet (and easiest) Rollo. Uncle Ben gave us Rollo about a year ago and we are sad to say that Rollo died a couple of days ago. The boys both were really attached to rollo, they would feed him and even help clean his bowl. About a week ago I noticed that rollo wasn't swimming around very much and that he was changing colors, he was not the vibrant maroon color he had been. I texted Ben and asked what I could do and he said go to a betta website to see how to help, but even trying many different things rollo just couldn't fight. The boys were very sad, it's such a big concept to teach. My little Dallin said, "mom, now Rollo is with Jesus and Josh!" (Jake's friend that died last year) and I said you are absolutely right, how awesome is that that they are all together. Good thing we can learn from these little guys!

Still SICK!!!

Ok so here is my weekend summed up in a few sentences. Mya has been on an antibiotic for 4 days and is still so sick, snotty nose, fever, coughing, throwing up, (in fact that is why I am up so late, I just cleaned throw up and now I can't get back to sleep), Jake left for Los Angeles to work on the LA temple, (great opportunity for him), I have had to work 2 of the last 4 days, (leaving my sick baby with family, thank goodness for family), and tried to work on my 20 pages of scrapbook layouts that I have due this Saturday. With a sick baby that is almost impossible. I do have to say, the snow crab and shrimp that I ate at Angelines house on Sunday has somehow made it all bearable, thanks Shane and Ange.
I wish Mya could start feeling better, it truly breaks my heart to see her so sick. I hope that we are on the mend and things will get back to normal soon. I have at least a week until Jake gets home so hopefully Mya will have recovered by then. Until then, my nursing skills are coming in handy huh?? At least the ones of cleaning throw up, yee ha!

My poor little baby girl!!!

Look how sick she is

Momma comforting her

Mya's poor poor eye

My little sweet Mya is so so sick today. It was a really hard day fo me because I had to go to work and leave my Mya with Jake. I am so glad that he has such a cool boss, thanks Matt, and was able to take it off. Yah the hospital is not very good about us calling in sick, go figure!
Mya had not been feeling well on Valentines Day, but I hoped that it would just pass. Instead though, that night she had a 102 temp, could barley breathe, and her eyes were completely filled with eye gunk. I felt so bad for her, why do our babies have to get sick, especially when they are so young and don't understand? Jake was so good to stay home with the kids, I wasn't about to let my mom and Aunt Ange have to take care of Mya when she was feeling so bad. I was able to meet Jake at the Dr.'s office and we found out that Mya has a sinus infection that is also affecting her eyes. The Dr. put her on an antibiotic and some eye drops then suggested that we get a surgery done on Mya that will open her clogged tear duct to lessen the chance of infection again. I don't want to think of that now, let's get her better.
It just breaks my heart to see her so sad and sick, I wish it were me instead.

SCARED!!!

The girls safe and sound!

Jaden

Little sweet Quinci

So I am sitting here typing this as I wait for Jake to return home. I just put little Mya down and the boys are watching a cartoon also waiting for their daddy. Here is the events that have unfolded this evening.
I get a call from Korine, (my sister-in-law for those of you who don't know) at about 4:15 and she is wondering where Jake is so that he could help her out. She proceeds to tell me that my little nieces are not home from school yet and that Quinci is stuck on a bus on the Alpine Highway and Jaden missed the bus and is stuck at the school because of this crazy blizzard that came through around 3:30. I immedietley call Jake to see where he is and at this point he is around 90th south in Salt Lake, this was good news because at least he has a 4 wheel truck that could make it to the school and the bus to pick the girls up.
That was the plan until Jake got stuck under the freeway overpass by Thanksgiving point and did not move an inch in 2 hours, they had completely blocked the Alpine Highway and no one could get through. I am feeling so bad and physically sick for Korine at this point because there is nothing that she can do for her babies. I know how I would feel and all you would want to do is hug them and tell them they were going to be all right, but there was no way of communicating this at that point. Keep in mind that Quinci is only 7 years old and did not have her sister on the bus with her to ease her discomfort.
So to make a very long night of Jake doing everything possible to make it to the school, he barley arrived at 8:30 and has been at the school since waiting for the bus to bring Quinci back so that he could bring them to home, or if the roads were still bad, bring them to our house. The last thing I have heard is that they are escorting kids off the bus in police cars and taking them to a stake center because the buses are still stuck. I can't believe this! I feel so very helpless. To top it off, David, my brother in-law is also stuck and has not made it home. Poor Koriney, she is alone with Triston, her little boy, waiting for her kids and husband to make it home safely. I am so so so sorry for her, the feeling of helplessness is killing her. Ok so now it is 10:10 and I just watched the news and to see the roads with my own eyes I just can't believe it. It is as clear as ever at my house.
Right away I got a hold of Jake and found out that he made it from the school to the church to pick up Quinci and that she is pretty shaken up, David also made it to the stake center but now his car is stuck. They have closed Traverse Mountain, where they live, so poor Korine is going to be home by herself tonight. Thank goodness she doesn't have to worry about her kids anymore and that they will be safe at our house. Wow, it really makes you put the little things into perspective, saying goodbye to your kids in the morning and the crazy possibility that they will get stuck on a bus for 6 hours in a huge wind and snow storm. We're just so very thankful that they are ok, we think that the few prayers me and the boys have said tonight has maybe helped a bit.

Ok now it is tomorrow and the girls slept over here. Little Quinci was so scared and just wanted her dog rosco, a stuffed animal, so Taylor gave her his little dog Max to comfort her. She had spent 6 hours on a bus without her sister there, and a new bus driver at that. There were lots of kids that were so good to help and comfort her. I am so thankful that everyone is ok. It makes me think about natural disasters and am I prepared. I really have a lot to work on. What an eye opener.

Happy Valentines Week

So this is the start of Valentines week and my kids have already planned a few things that they want to do. List includes making sugar cookies and of course frosting them, (which why do I find that I eat almost all of them each time we do RRRRRGGGGHHH where is my self control??), make a special valentine for Dad, get their friends valentines, and plan some sort of valentine party, (not sure why they think that is something you do for Valentines.) but I told them they already have a party planned at school and they seem to be ok with that, thank goodness. So in honor of Valentine's Day, the kids posed their famous pose and wha la, a cute pic of them showing their excitement for this holiday.

Taylor's Special Day

I wanted to post this special little day about Taylor. This was his SPOTLIGHT week at school so I got to make a poster just about him and his favorited people and things. Mrs. Smith his teacher wanted me to go to his class and talk about Taylor and any funny stories that we wanted to share. When I got to his class the kids were sitting in a circle and they started singing a special song about him. I'm kind of embarrassed to say and I know that I am a dork, but I started shedding tears because the proud look that Taylor had on his face. It was honestly the most precious thing ever. Taylor loved the funny story I told about when he was about 19 months old, just after Dallin was born, he use to carry a spatula with him everywhere he went. He slept with one, sometimes two, he took it to the store, he ate with it, everything. So we started saying that Taylor had a new pet, his pet Spatty. I had made a scrapbook page that I showed everyone and all the kids laughed, it was cute. I loved talking about Taylor and the awesome young man that he is. I'd have to say, another proud moment for this Murphy mom!

Dallin and his "Special Things"

Where do I even begin with my little Dallin. What a sweet sweet boy he is and already a heartbreaker, (little Kylee in his pre-school class), but this child of mine has a little thing with THINGS! Ok so first it's our "little guys" (see previous post, maybe 4 posts ago), then it's his pets! Do you see all the pets that have to go to bed with him every night, and if Mya even tries to get on his bed and play with any of them, he throws a royal fit.
Then there's this pile of "STUFF" all of Dallins special toys, (or that is what he says) that he doesn't want anyone to play with except himself. So I know that the picture does not do it justice, but if you can invision this all in a great big pile between my two couches in the front room, thank goodness you can't really see it unless you walk over there, but the mountain just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I laugh everytime Dallin gets something new and he says, "mom, I'm going to put it with all my special things." Ok so that means he is going to add it to the already enourmous pile in the family room. I have to laugh at this sweet kid, when he puts his mind to something, by dang he is going to do it, so needless to say, we will have a mountain of toys there for awhile until I make him clean it up, (which for those of you who know me know that that won't happen, how could I take that away from my Dallin,) or until we finish the basement and he finds another hiding place. Looks like I need to start saving for the basement.

I love that they learn so little!!

Usually when Jake, me, and the boys say our nightly prayer little Mya is running around playing with toys, looking at books, or crawling all over me. But the other night when I said, "ok guys, it's time for prayer" Mya put her little hands together, almost like she was trying to fold her arms. I seriously had a tear in my eye when I saw it and both Taylor and Dallin were so excited. So everyday since then she has done it whenever we say our prayer. Tonight I snapped a few pics, just to capture that oh so very tender moment. I love that our kids learn at such a young age, I have to say I am a very proud mom tonight!

Happy Birthday to my big sis Jennifer!

Today was my sister Jennifers birthday, and also it is my twin neices who are her daughters birthday as well. It was nice to get together for lunch with my mom and dad and my other sis Ange. Jennifer is honestly one the best people that I know. She is the most kind hearted, non judgemental, giving, and loving person ever. I hope that I can be just a little bit of what she is, I truly look up to her very very much. Happy Birthday Jennifer, you deserve so much happiness and good things. Love you!

Bear Lake 2008

Ok so call us crazy, look at the weather conditions we traveled in so we could go on our fun little Bear Lake adventure, we all were safe though. We had tons of fun with all the Murphy fam, the kids loved spending time with their Meema and Grandpa Murph, and their cousins. Thanks to Korine and David and their Trendwest condo we were able to be very comfortable. We went snow shoeing, swimming, played games, and ate tons of food. It was good to get the kids out, but we really missed Daddy. Jake had to work in Wyoming so he wasn't able to come. We look forward to next time though. I was so proud of the boys for snow shoeing and loving every minute of it, it was absolutely beautiful. Pretty funny that Mya fell asleep for all of it, what a little trooper. So much fun!!!
